First Time Tips & Yoga Etiquette

First Time Tips & Yoga Etiquette

First Time Tips & Yoga Etiquette

  • You do not have to be flexible to practice yoga. Our experienced instructors will meet you where you are with either starting or continuing a yoga practice.
  • Personal mat is required and a 5mm thickness works great for most students. If you have blocks and straps please bring them as well.
  • Wear form fitting but comfortable clothing. No jeans, belts or loose tops.
  • It's suggested you never eat 2 hours prior to your practice. If you need to eat before, make it light such as fruit or toast.
  • Don't hesitate to ask questions, big or small.  Stay in the moment, enjoy your time on the mat, smile, do your best and then relax.
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of class time. Unfortunately, we cannot allow late entry to classes/events.
  • Do not leave during final relaxation or Savasana. (corpse pose) If you have to leave class early please pack up quietly 15 minutes before class ends.
  • Avoid stepping on other peoples mats.  Shoes are not permitted in the main studio space.
  • Yoga is traditionally practiced barefoot, but yoga socks or yoga shoes are acceptable.
  • Cell phones MUST be turned off.
  • Please respect the space and fellow students. Yoga can be an emotional ride for folks; be kind, be courteous and inclusive.
